Founded in 2004, Older Adults Technology Services (OATS) from AARP is a social impact organization with a mission to “harness the power of technology to change the way we age.” Through its Senior Planet from AARP programs, OATS offers free virtual and in-person classes on a wide range of tech and digital tools, from the basics of using email to using AI apps. In this presentation, the OATS Education team reviews best practices for working with older adults who are new to technology and share numerous resources to help older adults build tech skills necessary for today’s workforce. We’ll also give an overview of Senior Planet Licensing, which equips community-based organizations to teach technology to older adults. Join Kim Ziegler, Associate Director of Curriculum Development at OATS and Senior Planet, for this very important and impactful presentation!

00:04:02.000 –> 00:04:10.000
Our mission is to harness technology to change the way we age. So… We’re not focused on the tech, we’re focused on what you can do with the tech.
00:04:10.000 –> 00:04:20.000
And what, you know, what doors the tech opens. Um, we started in 2004 in New York City. We started with computer classes in Brooklyn.
00:04:20.000 –> 00:04:26.000
And quickly spread to senior centers throughout the five boroughs, and then eventually.
00:04:26.000 –> 00:04:34.000
Um, we founded… we still have a tech-focused community center for older adults in Chelsea called Senior Planet.
00:04:34.000 –> 00:04:41.000
Um, and then we have Senior Planet, and we have various Senior Planet Centers around the country, including in Plattsburgh, New York, which is.
00:04:41.000 –> 00:04:47.000
The North Country, almost… almost to Canada. Um, we also have a center in Denver, Colorado.
00:04:47.000 –> 00:04:51.000
And a center in Miami, Florida. That’s our newest sensor. It’s just a few years old.
00:04:51.000 –> 00:04:59.000
Um, oats also has. Oat staff, and we teach senior planet programs in Montgomery County, Maryland.
00:04:59.000 –> 00:05:05.000
San Antonio, Texas, and Northern California. Uh, in addition to those.
00:05:05.000 –> 00:05:13.000
Those on the ground, we, um… before the pandemic, like so many organizations, we did all in-person classes.
00:05:13.000 –> 00:05:22.000
Uh, and we… we would… we had some blended learning, we had a… we have an online learning platform that we incorporated into our programs.
00:05:22.000 –> 00:05:30.000
But it was mostly… it was all, um, in-person classes. With the pandemic, we got online, started doing virtual classes, and so now we have Senior Planet.
00:05:30.000 –> 00:05:43.000
Classes available at SeniorPlanet.org. Um, all day long, all week long, and um, that’s what… so that’s the difference, is oats is our non-profit senior plan is our program.
00:05:43.000 –> 00:05:50.000
And in 2021, we affiliated with AARP. Um, so Oates was… has been around.
00:05:50.000 –> 00:06:04.000
Way before that, affiliating with ARP just means that. We, um, we’re a charitable affiliate. We are still a non-profit, we still have our own board, but we have resources that we didn’t have before, and also access and, um, more of a national.
00:06:04.000 –> 00:06:10.000
Presence, which is exciting. So, um, I mentioned that.
00:06:10.000 –> 00:06:18.000
You know, we do technology services, but we’re really interested in what tech can do. So, technology isn’t the end, but it’s a means to an end.
00:06:18.000 –> 00:06:33.000
And we really see that end as empowerment or… Um, helping older adults achieve their goals, whatever it might be. So maybe it’s finding a new job, maybe it’s starting a new hobby, maybe it’s connecting, making new friends, getting healthy, all of those things we cover.
00:06:33.000 –> 00:06:43.000
Um, when we design programs, we, um… We try to make them as flexible and modular as possible. Older adults.
00:06:43.000 –> 00:06:59.000
Come to our programs and, you know, go through life with so much experience, and we… you know, any good teaching, um, practice should incorporate the experiences of the learners. And so, in the case of older adults, it’s about.
00:06:59.000 –> 00:07:04.000
Developing curriculum that acknowledges, that brings in the experience of the learners, that uses.
00:07:04.000 –> 00:07:10.000
That uses that experience to then tailor each session. So each session might look a little different.
00:07:10.000 –> 00:07:18.000
Um, and that is, you know, that makes it… that makes it more inclusive, participant-driven. We do emphasize, um, active learning.
00:07:18.000 –> 00:07:28.000
Whether it be an online lecture where there is discussion or lots of interaction in the chat, so kind of not what I’m doing right this minute, but hopefully when we’ll have time.
00:07:28.000 –> 00:07:37.000
Later, um, and our in-person programs. Hands-on, and I’ll talk more about that, but hands-on practice is really, is really important.
00:07:37.000 –> 00:07:48.000
We do do surveys, we have a whole data team, um, oats… Oh, it uses the surveys, you know, to improve… to improve our programs. We use various metrics, so…
00:07:48.000 –> 00:07:55.000
We look at NPS. Um, or Net Promoter Score, but also, uh, more specific.
00:07:55.000 –> 00:08:00.000
More specific metrics, like. Um, whether the program helped somebody.
00:08:00.000 –> 00:08:11.000
Find… have… have an ability to find access… resources online, connect to others. Um, a lot of social, social… um, factors as well.
00:08:11.000 –> 00:08:16.000
So, um… Shortly after Oates began.
00:08:16.000 –> 00:08:24.000
The board decided to… that… To focus our programming on areas where we felt technology could make.
00:08:24.000 –> 00:08:30.000
An impact on older adults’ lives. And so these are our five impact areas. These are what all of our programs.
00:08:30.000 –> 00:08:36.000
Have to do with either one or more of these impact areas, and they do overlap.
00:08:36.000 –> 00:08:46.000
I mentioned, you know, I’ve… I’m part of the education team, so all of our curriculum-based programs are focused on using tech to do something, but online, we also offer.
00:08:46.000 –> 00:08:51.000
Fitness classes, we have morning stretch, yoga, we have discussion groups.
00:08:51.000 –> 00:09:03.000
Uh, book clubs, we have a solo aging group, so they’re… senior reliant programs go beyond, um, just lectures and, um, text demonstrations.
00:09:03.000 –> 00:09:17.000
But whether it’s a fitness class or a tech… a tech class, they all have to do with helping older adults achieve their goals in one of… one or more of these areas. Our workforce programs are in the financial area, along with, um.
00:09:17.000 –> 00:09:27.000
We have entrepreneurship programs, building your own website, we have, uh, and then a lot of the privacy and security are in the financial area as well.
00:09:27.000 –> 00:09:32.000
Um, so I mentioned the, sort of, just starting with tech adoption itself.
00:09:32.000 –> 00:09:35.000
If you work with older adults or somebody who is new to technology.
00:09:35.000 –> 00:09:41.000
Um, starting with the benefits of tech, and not just broad.
00:09:41.000 –> 00:09:51.000
Kind of intangible benefits, but asking, you know, what areas in your life would you like to improve, or what interests you, and starting from there is key to tech adoption.
00:09:51.000 –> 00:09:55.000
Um, and it allows, uh. You know, you have to get buy-in.
00:09:55.000 –> 00:10:07.000
Um, and then we really do emphasize foundational skills, um. Finding out how somebody uses their phone, and explaining the sort of connections between.
00:10:07.000 –> 00:10:13.000
Email on the phone and email on the desktop, or things… things like that, and pointing to those transferable skills.
00:10:13.000 –> 00:10:20.000
Um, privacy and security are always an important aspect of, you know, any new technology user.
00:10:20.000 –> 00:10:29.000
We do find that that is a particular concern to older adults, and it can be a barrier. So some, you know, some people might not want to.
00:10:29.000 –> 00:10:35.000
Partake in a Google Maps class, because they don’t want. To give their location on their phone. And so…
00:10:35.000 –> 00:10:43.000
That’s when, you know. Um, addressing that from the beginning, talking about, you know, the settings and what part, you know.
00:10:43.000 –> 00:10:55.000
Sharing your location sometimes, taking it off other times, um, basically just… all of our programs have privacy and security built into them, best practices, and um…
00:10:55.000 –> 00:11:01.000
We love… we love the settings of whatever new app it is, and that’s something that you can help older adults get familiar with.
00:11:01.000 –> 00:11:05.000
Is the settings, so don’t be afraid to get lost in the settings.
00:11:05.000 –> 00:11:10.000
Um, another way to address those concerns is through best practices.
00:11:10.000 –> 00:11:22.000
Do’s and don’ts, um, of scam prevention, and recognizing red flags of scams. So, we have a… We have a program called Understanding Fraud and Scams, which is available.
00:11:22.000 –> 00:11:32.000
Virtually and in person. Um, and we have landing pages, both in English and in Spanish, so I have the English one here, and I’ll put it in the chat.
00:11:32.000 –> 00:11:39.000
Um, most of our very basic programs, so our… our multi-week classes that are about using… learning to use the iPad.
00:11:39.000 –> 00:11:45.000
For complete beginners, or learning to use the computer, are in… they are in-person classes.
00:11:45.000 –> 00:11:57.000
Um, and they go over several weeks. Realizing that some people, you know, might want just some tips and some ways to kind of start working with someone, we created this Internet Basics Guidebook with the support of Comcast.
00:11:57.000 –> 00:12:01.000
And so, um, I’ll put those links in the chat as well.
00:12:01.000 –> 00:12:06.000
I forget, because I take this for granted a lot of times, all of our senior planner programs are free.
00:12:06.000 –> 00:12:11.000
So that’s a big, important aspect of that, too, and we’ll see on the website.
00:12:11.000 –> 00:12:19.000
Um, working with… older adults working with any learners, these are best practices for teaching. Um…
00:12:19.000 –> 00:12:27.000
But things like pace and repetition become extra important when you’re working with older adults and taking into consideration.
00:12:27.000 –> 00:12:31.000
Cognitive changes that… that we all go through as we age.
00:12:31.000 –> 00:12:38.000
Um, studies have shown that. Older adults can use any technology we use, any technology other age groups can use.
00:12:38.000 –> 00:12:47.000
Um, and they just… some… studies have shown they take longer, often, and need… need more practice. And so that’s so…
00:12:47.000 –> 00:12:52.000
Senior Planet programs are… Each program is developed with that in mind.
00:12:52.000 –> 00:12:58.000
Um, and it can be something that anytime you’re working with an older adult, to keep… to keep… keep in mind.
00:12:58.000 –> 00:13:04.000
Um, the more practice you give, the easier it is to build that confidence.
00:13:04.000 –> 00:13:13.000
Um, again, prioritizing privacy and security. We, you know, incorporating hands-on practice.
00:13:13.000 –> 00:13:17.000
If you’re in a virtual or a Zoom session is… can be kind of tricky.
00:13:17.000 –> 00:13:27.000
We do it by… something called Tech Demos, where we do the… We do… we have sessions where trainers are showing a platform in depth and showing step-by-step.
00:13:27.000 –> 00:13:38.000
And then, at the end of the session, participants get multi-page screen, um, handouts with screenshots that show the step-by-step, so the idea is that they can practice on their own after the session.
00:13:38.000 –> 00:13:49.000
Um, and then remembering that. Uh, you know, Senior Planet, we don’t necessarily advocate for one platform or another, or even one tech, we… not…
00:13:49.000 –> 00:13:55.000
Not everybody is going… is going to dive in headfirst to using ChatGPT, but we do think that everybody should.
00:13:55.000 –> 00:14:00.000
Know what ChatGPT is, and then that… we do see the value in.
00:14:00.000 –> 00:14:10.000
Understanding what it is, how it’s… how it’s impacting life today. And then once… once participants know that, and they know the pros and cons of using it, they can decide, right?
00:14:10.000 –> 00:14:16.000
Um, to the extent whether they’re going to… Use it occasionally, or they’re gonna, you know.
00:14:16.000 –> 00:14:26.000
Never have to write their own email again, because they get to start with… start with ChatGPT, and then if they’re doing that, they also learn in our classes, like, here are some good practices for.
00:14:26.000 –> 00:14:33.000
You know, for making… making that output your own, and don’t forget to proofread, and don’t forget to fact-check, and things like that.
00:14:33.000 –> 00:14:38.000
Um, again, I mentioned, you know, the importance of the no one size.
00:14:38.000 –> 00:14:44.000
One size does not fit all, so tailoring content and. Um, to the participants.
00:14:44.000 –> 00:14:53.000
And then, um, as with, you know. We often refer to learning tech as sort of learning another culture.
00:14:53.000 –> 00:14:58.000
You’re not just, you know, you’re… you’re learning a new language, because there’s lots of jargon.
00:14:58.000 –> 00:15:05.000
You’re, um, you’re learning a new way to think about the world, because tech influences how… how people get their news.
00:15:05.000 –> 00:15:10.000
How people relate to each other, right? And so, um, when you think about it sort of as a culture.
00:15:10.000 –> 00:15:16.000
Then it’s easier to remember the importance of making sure we’re all speaking the same language right at the beginning.
00:15:16.000 –> 00:15:28.000
Um, our Senior Planet.org has a tech glossary. That can be useful, um, as a place to start for thinking about how to… how to describe certain tech jargon.
00:15:28.000 –> 00:15:34.000
And then, um… here are some workforce-specific resources. So, um…
00:15:34.000 –> 00:15:43.000
Because all of our programs are free, and we try to… We try to meet the needs of the most… as many people as possible. We…
00:15:43.000 –> 00:15:50.000
We do tend to lean heavily on the Google… on the Google Suite when we… when we teach certain… certain products, but.
00:15:50.000 –> 00:15:55.000
So we do have these on-demand videos, which are about 10 minutes in length, or again, they’re all free.
00:15:55.000 –> 00:16:01.000
They… we have one for Gmail that goes beyond just basic email and talks about adding things like.
00:16:01.000 –> 00:16:06.000
Um, your signature to your email. We have, um, Google Sheets.
00:16:06.000 –> 00:16:13.000
Google Docs and Google Drive. Um, and… all of these programs, we also have.
00:16:13.000 –> 00:16:20.000
Live classes, synchronous classes that go over these as well. And they also discussed how the, you know, the fact that, like.
00:16:20.000 –> 00:16:31.000
You can download a Google Doc as a Microsoft doc, or as a PDF. So, talking about the way those platforms interact and how that, you know, if you learn it on Google, it doesn’t mean that if you’re.
00:16:31.000 –> 00:16:38.000
Job is using Microsoft. There are, you know, there are similarities between icons, between where you look on the screen, and all of those processes.
00:16:38.000 –> 00:16:47.000
We have a page, SeniorPlanet.org slash zoom. Which has a lot of Zoom resources, um, including shorter videos.
00:16:47.000 –> 00:16:56.000
Resources for people who are new. Participating, like, in a Zoom meeting, and then also for hosting Zoom meetings.
00:16:56.000 –> 00:17:08.000
Um, AI is really popular, uh, among participants right now. And we have live classes and a webpage in both English and Spanish, so the top of.
00:17:08.000 –> 00:17:13.000
The top of this page has a… see this in Spanish.
00:17:13.000 –> 00:17:20.000
Um, or at SeniorPlanet.org slash espanol slash EIA. And I’ll put that in the chat as well.
00:17:20.000 –> 00:17:28.000
This last resource is actually not… And Oates are Senior Planet Resource. Um, but I did want to point it out, so…
00:17:28.000 –> 00:17:33.000
Some people don’t realize, or a lot of people don’t realize, I didn’t realize until we affiliated with AARP.
00:17:33.000 –> 00:17:41.000
That, um, the AARP.org website, you can actually create a login for free.
00:17:41.000 –> 00:17:51.000
Whether you’re an AARP member or not. And that website has tons of resources that go beyond if you’re just browsing the website without being signed in.
00:17:51.000 –> 00:17:56.000
Um, and so one of those resources is this AARP Skills Builder for Work.
00:17:56.000 –> 00:18:08.000
That they collaborated with MindEdge Learning. Um, and there are… there are online courses on a lot of Microsoft products, actually, and a couple things on, like, remote work.
00:18:08.000 –> 00:18:15.000
And, um, they… You only… so with your free… with your free AARP.org.
00:18:15.000 –> 00:18:25.000
Log in, you get access to one of the programs, and then for ARP members, if… If you know any AARP members, they can get discounts on more of the courses.
00:18:25.000 –> 00:18:29.000
Um… Okay, so I promise I’m almost done.
00:18:29.000 –> 00:18:34.000
Um, but I did see a lot of, you know, a lot of what looked like community-based organizations.
00:18:34.000 –> 00:18:42.000
People sharing their work names in the chat, and so, um… I wanted to share our Senior Planet Licensing program.
00:18:42.000 –> 00:18:49.000
This is a wonderful program. It’s… been… it’s been around for about 4 or 5 years, um, and basically.
00:18:49.000 –> 00:19:02.000
As oats was growing, so it’s around the same time we started a little bit before the affiliation, actually, and so kind of AARP has helped us grown, but licensing has really helped us grown and reach more people.
00:19:02.000 –> 00:19:08.000
Um, and basically. Nonprofit, community-based organizations can license.
00:19:08.000 –> 00:19:14.000
A good portion of our Senior Planet curriculum to teach in their communities, to teach in person in their communities.
00:19:14.000 –> 00:19:21.000
And, um, there’s an application process, and then once the… once the organization comes on board as a licensed partner.
00:19:21.000 –> 00:19:35.000
They’re required to go through the train-the-trainer, where we. Train the people who are teaching and the administrators of the program how to use our resources, how to, you know, our… we go more into depth in teaching.
00:19:35.000 –> 00:19:39.000
Our best practices for teaching and working with older adults, and understanding.
00:19:39.000 –> 00:19:47.000
We have… we have hundreds and hundreds of programs, and so, um, the Train the Trainer goes… goes into that.
00:19:47.000 –> 00:19:55.000
It is a combination, the train-the-trainer is a combination of live Zoom programs and self-paced e-learning. We understand that.
00:19:55.000 –> 00:20:00.000
Nonprofits, people working for nonprofits don’t have a lot of time, so we try to take that into consideration.
00:20:00.000 –> 00:20:08.000
Um, and once you’re on board, you’re teaching Senior Planet classes to your community, and there are regular meetings and ongoing.
00:20:08.000 –> 00:20:18.000
Um, ongoing support from our whole licensing team. Um, and this just gives a little idea. Right now, we have over 170.
00:20:18.000 –> 00:20:28.000
Active partners, and those partners range from community colleges, extension programs, a lot of libraries, sometimes entire library systems.
00:20:28.000 –> 00:20:36.000
Um, and so they’ll teach at multiple sites, so that’s why we have 175 partners, but 640.
00:20:36.000 –> 00:20:41.000
More than 640 licensed partner sites all over the country. We’re in 36 states.
00:20:41.000 –> 00:20:53.000
Um, and… And it’s a really… it’s a really wonderful program. I have a licensing flyer that I’ll put in the chat as well, but oats.org slash licensing.
00:20:53.000 –> 00:21:05.000
Is the info… is the… Um, the page about it, and then… licensing-map is where you can find to see… so you… the map, you can actually find.
00:21:05.000 –> 00:21:12.000
Um, whether… maybe there’s licensed partners already around you that you can refer people to if your organization is, you know, is not a licensed partner.
00:21:12.000 –> 00:21:16.000
Um, we do licensing… takes applications on a rolling basis.
00:21:16.000 –> 00:21:32.000
And, um, there is actually a information session today at 3 p.m. Eastern, so… 2PM Central. Uh, and then the next one is October 6th. But again, you can find more at oats.org slash licensing.
00:21:32.000 –> 00:21:39.000
Um… oops. This is… oh, wait, I’ll go back here just real quick.
00:21:39.000 –> 00:21:48.000
Um. This is… so the website, I… I… I’ll bring up the website, but just an overview of things that you can find on SeniorPlanet.org.
00:21:48.000 –> 00:21:53.000
And a plug for our free. Tech support hotline.
00:21:53.000 –> 00:22:02.000
So that’s the number on the screen. Um, around the time of the pandemic, we started the tech support hotline. A lot of it was.
00:22:02.000 –> 00:22:15.000
Came out of… once we started our pro… getting our programs on… online. We didn’t, you know, it was connecting with those participants that we had had… that we had been working with in person, and making sure that nobody was.
00:22:15.000 –> 00:22:31.000
Isolated or, you know, cut off in that… in those early days of the pandemic. And then our hotline, we’ve… we’ve learned a lot. Um, it was… it was very much… building the plane is through flying it. At the… back in the day, but, um, now we have a…
00:22:31.000 –> 00:22:39.000
A wonderful tech support hotline with full-time… full-time contact center agents who go through very similar training to our instructors.
00:22:39.000 –> 00:22:46.000
So, learning how to work with older adults, and the specific needs and, um, concerns of older adults when it comes to tech.
00:22:46.000 –> 00:22:53.000
It’s a free hotline. Anybody can call in. Uh, I… about 50% of their calls.
00:22:53.000 –> 00:23:06.000
Are about Senior Planet Programs themselves, so asking about Senior Planet, maybe they got… they saw something in the AARP bulletin about it, and they’re finding out more, or they’re trying, you know, they’re interested in picking a class to attend virtually.
00:23:06.000 –> 00:23:14.000
The other half are tech questions, and they range. From helping people recover a forgotten password or reset their password.
00:23:14.000 –> 00:23:22.000
To helping people navigate their new phone. All of those things. The tech hotline is available in English and Spanish.
00:23:22.000 –> 00:23:28.000
And then we do have an agent who speaks Mandarin, and so there’s a… there’s a prompt at the beginning.
00:23:28.000 –> 00:23:33.000
Mandarin colors usually get a callback, because we don’t have as… we only have one Mandarin speaker right now.
00:23:33.000 –> 00:23:39.000
But, um, the tech hotline is available Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. To 8 p.m. Eastern.
00:23:39.000 –> 00:23:50.000
And Saturdays, 9 a.m. To 2 p.m. Eastern. All right. I’m gonna switch… I’m gonna stop sharing and see about questions, if that’s…
00:23:50.000 –> 00:23:57.000
Yeah.
00:23:57.000 –> 00:24:02.000
Any questions?
00:24:02.000 –> 00:24:07.000
Doesn’t look like we have any in the chat box, but okay, I see Georgia.
00:24:07.000 –> 00:24:10.000
Also, George, if you want to come off of mute?
00:24:10.000 –> 00:24:18.000
Yeah, so the question I was wondering, um, is there an age minimum that you must meet to… be able to participate in your program?
00:24:18.000 –> 00:24:27.000
So, with, like AARP, we are 50+. Um, but, you know, our virtual programs, we hope it’s older adults.
00:24:27.000 –> 00:24:34.000
We don’t card. Um, but we… oats, before… before affiliation, um…
00:24:34.000 –> 00:24:50.000
We always said 60+, and our… Our average age of participants generally, I think, skews a little bit older than AARP in general. It’s about 73, but we design programs for, you know, 50 to 60 plus, taking into consideration those.
00:24:50.000 –> 00:24:55.000
Those needs and… and, um, you know, of course, older adults come from all kinds of.
00:24:55.000 –> 00:25:02.000
A different experience with tech, but usually. Thinking about those 60-plus and being newer to tech.
00:25:02.000 –> 00:25:09.000
If that’s helpful.
00:25:09.000 –> 00:25:13.000
I’m putting links in the chat that were on the, um, on the slides.
00:25:13.000 –> 00:25:21.000
And then I can also… Um, if y’all want to see SeniorPlanet.org, I’m happy to share and show some of these.
00:25:21.000 –> 00:25:32.000
Some of these resources kind of show them, or if you have more questions.
00:25:32.000 –> 00:25:33.000
Okay.
00:25:33.000 –> 00:25:45.000
It doesn’t look like we have any more questions, so if you… if you want, we would love to see the website. And also, I will, uh, be sure to copy these out of the chat as well, and I’ll send a follow-up email so that you’ll have me in your email, just in case you’re not able to get it out of chat.
00:25:45.000 –> 00:25:59.000
Great. Okay, so I’m just gonna bring up…
00:25:59.000 –> 00:26:01.000
Okay, so y’all can see my browser. So this is SeniorPlanets.org, so there’s our hotline number.
00:26:01.000 –> 00:26:06.000
We can.
00:26:06.000 –> 00:26:17.000
Um, they’re on the homepage. Um, the free guide for the internet basics, which I also put a direct link to it for… this is the English one, and I put both English and Spanish in the chat.
00:26:17.000 –> 00:26:25.000
And so, as you can see, we have, um, sort of classes. We have articles, too. Our website, we have a wonderful editor who, um.
00:26:25.000 –> 00:26:34.000
And a whole… a whole team of freelance writers who… who write articles of all… kinds about, um, issues that are important to older adults.
00:26:34.000 –> 00:26:42.000
Um, you can find our fitness classes here, and then we have classes in Spanish and in Mandarin.
00:26:42.000 –> 00:26:53.000
These are the, um… the listed… the six locations where we are on the ground with OATS employees teaching Senior Planet classes, and then when you.
00:26:53.000 –> 00:27:01.000
Click more locations, that’s… that will take you to the map with the license partners to… to see if there are any licensed partners near you.
00:27:01.000 –> 00:27:07.000
And then this is really the tab that I, um, that I drew on for the presentation.
00:27:07.000 –> 00:27:12.000
So, our on-demand learning page. Um.
00:27:12.000 –> 00:27:19.000
We have the tech demo videos that I mentioned. And they go beyond Google. I just highlighted the Google…
00:27:19.000 –> 00:27:28.000
The Google ones for their workforce, uh, topics. But we also have stuff about the Google account, the privacy settings. Oh, Google Calendar, forgot to mention that one.
00:27:28.000 –> 00:27:44.000
All of these are free, we just ask, um… you know, just so that we can… we can learn about people who are using… we asked for the name and email address. It doesn’t sign you up for any newsletter unless you actually click here to sign up for the newsletter.
00:27:44.000 –> 00:27:52.000
And then we have self-paced courses. Through our online learning platform, Senior Planet U. Right now, we have two class…
00:27:52.000 –> 00:28:00.000
Two self-paced courses, they’re… multiple modules, and, um, on using Canva and building a website with Google Sites, which.
00:28:00.000 –> 00:28:08.000
You know, um, we have a variety of reasons that participants are taking those. A lot of times it’s for personal use, but sometimes it is for professional use.
00:28:08.000 –> 00:28:13.000
And then this is the Zoom… this is an interactive training.
00:28:13.000 –> 00:28:17.000
About hosting on Zoom. So you go over, like, muting and unmuting folks.
00:28:17.000 –> 00:28:26.000
Bringing them in from the waiting room, doing breakout rooms. Um, in case somebody’s new to Zoom but needs it… needs to start hosting.
00:28:26.000 –> 00:28:32.000
Um… Our tech terms glossary is here.
00:28:32.000 –> 00:28:39.000
Um, oh, and this is our Zoom page. So classes about Zoom, the same, this is the same…
00:28:39.000 –> 00:28:45.000
Click-through… an interactive module. We also have.
00:28:45.000 –> 00:28:52.000
You know, just intro to using Zoom. That you can… you can download.
00:28:52.000 –> 00:28:59.000
Um, and then… lots of videos that I mentioned.
00:28:59.000 –> 00:29:14.000
And… Um, this… more to explore. Seniorplanet.org slash explore is the easiest way to see our themes webpages. So we have the AI page, our scam prevention page.
00:29:14.000 –> 00:29:22.000
As well as other… other resources. Um, on this page, SeniorPlanet.org slash explore.
00:29:22.000 –> 00:29:26.000
I also forgot to give a shout out to our, um, our YouTube channel.
00:29:26.000 –> 00:29:33.000
I’m gonna go back one… And this is probably… The body scanner… Goodness gracious. Okay, so, um…
00:29:33.000 –> 00:29:43.000
Are on YouTube, we have quite an active channel. They… we do post, um… fitness programs, as well as we have over 90.
00:29:43.000 –> 00:29:52.000
Short 2 to 5 minute how-to videos, um, which can be really helpful for… for, um, whether, you know.
00:29:52.000 –> 00:29:56.000
Whether the older adult themselves is using it, or you’re using it to help someone.
00:29:56.000 –> 00:30:06.000
Um, and they range in topics. This is our… this is the information about… so this is the licensing page.
00:30:06.000 –> 00:30:13.000
Um, on oats.org. And the info session, you do have to register.
00:30:13.000 –> 00:30:19.000
Register online for the info sessions. So the next one after today is October 6th.
00:30:19.000 –> 00:30:25.000
Um… I… any other…
00:30:25.000 –> 00:30:33.000
Does anybody want to see anything on the website in particular?
00:30:33.000 –> 00:30:40.000
The book club is really great. The book club just had the last book that they read, the author came this week, I think. So, um, it’s very active.
00:30:40.000 –> 00:30:46.000
As well.
00:30:46.000 –> 00:30:54.000
Awesome. Well, Kimberly, thank you so much. It doesn’t look like we have any other questions. This was some great, great information.
00:30:54.000 –> 00:31:11.000
Um, and so I’m looking forward to going through the resources and also, um, for everybody who’s on the call and everybody who registered, we’ll definitely share those resources in a follow-up email. Um, so I see a lot of thank yous coming in, so again, I just want to reiterate that. Thank you for all the information. Thank you for the resources.
00:31:11.000 –> 00:31:15.000
And we look forward to working with you again very soon.
00:31:15.000 –> 00:31:24.000
Um, and for everybody else, I hope you have a wonderful rest of your Wednesday, and we hope to see you at our next 30 Minutes of Excellence session.
00:31:24.000 –> 00:31:26.000
Thank you. Bye.
