00:00:04.000 –> 00:00:23.000
Right, hello, and welcome to each of you again. Um, my name is Kim Meadows, and I will be leading our time together today as we are talking about, um, the opportunities that NALTAP has upcoming this year for training. So, um, each year, when I start the year, I kind of have my word that I kind of.
00:00:23.000 –> 00:00:28.000
Um, hold on to each year, so, you know, I just have different words that I start the year out with.
00:00:28.000 –> 00:00:48.000
Um, when it… when it’s work-related. So this year, my word was more, and I kind of came to that word because I looked at a lot of the trainings, a lot of the advocacy work, a lot of the relationships that we did last year with NADA. Um, we had an amazing impact last year, so thank you all for who were a part of that.
00:00:48.000 –> 00:00:53.000
But as I kind of reflected over everything that Nauta did in 2025.
00:00:53.000 –> 00:01:09.000
Um, I had to remember that there’s always more, so I never want us to get to the point where we think we have reached it, we’ve learned everything there is to know, there’s always more to learn. So, um, that’s kind of my word for the year, so that’s why I named this Theres More.
00:01:09.000 –> 00:01:19.000
And so, what we’re going to talk about today is just all of the different learning opportunities, all the things that Nautif has going this year as it relates to professional development.
00:01:19.000 –> 00:01:25.000
Um, so I won’t take it for granted that everybody knows NADIP’s mission and our vision and our values.
00:01:25.000 –> 00:01:34.000
Um, I have put it on the screen here, though, but, uh, really our mission is to enrich the workforce development community, workforce development professionals.
00:01:34.000 –> 00:01:39.000
So, we say… I like to say that we are here to serve you as you’re serving others.
00:01:39.000 –> 00:01:52.000
Um, we really do that through 3 pillars. Um, it’s connect, advance, and Innovate. Those are our three pillars, so you’ll see that all over Nautil Branding, but that’s really who we are, that’s what we do. We like to connect workforce development professionals.
00:01:52.000 –> 00:02:06.000
advance the industry, and then provide innovative practices. So the church always thinking out outside of the box, and how to continue to be better and do better for the people that you work with. So those are our mission and our values.
00:02:06.000 –> 00:02:10.000
Um, I want to just start this off with a quote.
00:02:10.000 –> 00:02:16.000
It says growth means the finish line must change, or you are no longer moving.
00:02:16.000 –> 00:02:24.000
So I’ll say that one more time, real slow, and you can read it with me as well, but growth means that the finish line must change, or you’re no longer moving.
00:02:24.000 –> 00:02:36.000
Um, so in my role as the Director of Training here at NAW, that’s really what I feel like one of my roles are, is to make sure that, um, I’m continuing to move the finish line.
00:02:36.000 –> 00:02:47.000
Making sure that you never feel like there’s nothing else to learn, because there’s always something to learn. So, that’s where, um, I kind of want us to think about as we’re going through this.
00:02:47.000 –> 00:02:55.000
So, one of the things that we did at the end of last year, when we’re putting together, um, our professional development, and we’re thinking about trainings.
00:02:55.000 –> 00:03:01.000
Uh, for each of our years. We do a survey. We do it usually about every two years.
00:03:01.000 –> 00:03:06.000
And with the survey, we, um, we just survey our Nautilk members.
00:03:06.000 –> 00:03:11.000
And our question is simply, what are your learning goals for 2026?
00:03:11.000 –> 00:03:22.000
We don’t give a list and tell you to check, you know, off the list of something that we’ve come up with. We really want to hear from you, so we leave it open-ended, and you can type in whatever your learning goals were.
00:03:22.000 –> 00:03:31.000
Um, so when we did it this past year, uh, we got about close to 200 responses, a little over 180 responses.
00:03:31.000 –> 00:03:47.000
And so, we kind of categorized them, and the top 5 learning goals for this year, for 2026, according to our non-up members, are listed here. So, one was AI. So, we see that consistently as people are trying to learn AI. And think about AI as.
00:03:47.000 –> 00:03:54.000
you know, just about with a lot of things, but once you learn one thing, it kind of changes, so you have to learn something else.
00:03:54.000 –> 00:04:03.000
Right, so it’s always constantly changing, and we definitely see that with AI. Um, so we definitely want to make sure that we’re staying on top of those changes as well.
00:04:03.000 –> 00:04:08.000
So, that was our number one learning goal, according to our NAW members.
00:04:08.000 –> 00:04:18.000
Um, the number 2 learning goal was really credentialing and earning your CWDP. So, if you’re not familiar with CWDP, that is a credential that is offered by Nautilus.
00:04:18.000 –> 00:04:31.000
Um, we don’t do the training. We have training providers that actually do the training, but we do the credentialing, um, and that’s certified workforce development professionals. So, we got some things coming up around CWDP this year as well.
00:04:31.000 –> 00:04:38.000
Um, one of… this is a pretty new one, um, since I’ve been here anyway, uh, grant writing.
00:04:38.000 –> 00:04:51.000
within the top 5 learning goals. So people are interested in, um, what are some of those strategies of how to write grants, and how to, uh, look at other funding, other… other than the funding that they get, uh, each year, either from the state or local government.
00:04:51.000 –> 00:05:05.000
Um, employer engagement was number 4, and then number 5 was monitoring federal policy, so we know there’s, um, a lot of things going on at the federal level, and so we saw, um, as a part of this survey.
00:05:05.000 –> 00:05:18.000
that members are really interested in making sure that they stay abreast of what’s going on at the federal level. So, we did look at those, um, our top 5 learning goals, and we’re really going to incorporate that into our offerings.
00:05:18.000 –> 00:05:32.000
This upcoming year. Um, and so I just encourage you all to really be intentional about your learning. Be intentional about your professional development. If there is something that you want to learn, if there is, um, a learning call.
00:05:32.000 –> 00:05:38.000
a learning curve or skills gap. Um, I really encourage you to go out and seek that training.
00:05:38.000 –> 00:05:49.000
Don’t just wait to see, you know, maybe it’ll come across my inbox, maybe I’ll, you know, see it here and there. If there’s something you want to learn, there are so many opportunities, so many different, um, places and channels.
00:05:49.000 –> 00:05:54.000
That you can learn, whether it’s podcasts, whether it’s listening to Promising Practices.
00:05:54.000 –> 00:05:59.000
A lot of different places that you can learn, so make sure you’re being intentional about what your goals are.
00:05:59.000 –> 00:06:08.000
What you want to learn in 2026. And finding those trainings to help you get to those goals and close those gaps.
00:06:08.000 –> 00:06:15.000
So, agenda, what I want to cover today is really, again, just talking about what NADAP has to offer this year.
00:06:15.000 –> 00:06:23.000
Um, some of our trainings are paid. Um, a lot of… even more of our trainings are non-paid, and they are open to the public.
00:06:23.000 –> 00:06:30.000
Um, so what I’m going to talk about starting off on our agenda today is our digital learning opportunities.
00:06:30.000 –> 00:06:34.000
I’m gonna give you just a sneak peek of our in-person events that we have coming up.
00:06:34.000 –> 00:06:45.000
Um, we’ll talk a little bit about CWDP, and then just give you some connection information so that you can make sure that you’re staying connected with all things Nautil.
00:06:45.000 –> 00:06:57.000
So, let’s just start off with digital learning. Um, so, digital learning, uh, right now, model… last year we had about 3,800.
00:06:57.000 –> 00:07:07.000
registrations for all of our digital learning opportunities. So, you know, we have a lot of digital learning coming up this year, a lot of it’s already on the websites where you can register.
00:07:07.000 –> 00:07:11.000
Um, I do like to just encourage people, though. Sometimes, you know, with digital learning.
00:07:11.000 –> 00:07:17.000
It’s easy to sit in front of the laptop or sit in front of the computer and kind of multitask.
00:07:17.000 –> 00:07:23.000
So, when you are on those online opportunities, I would definitely encourage you to prepare, just like you were going in person.
00:07:23.000 –> 00:07:39.000
Right? Preparation is key, so if you know that you’re going to a 30 minutes of excellence session, or you’re going to a virtual academy, you want to prepare for that. You want to, um, look ahead, look at the agenda, look at the schedule. What are they going to have to offer? What do you want to get out of those presentations?
00:07:39.000 –> 00:07:42.000
Um, also really give the training your full attention.
00:07:42.000 –> 00:07:54.000
Uh, when you can, and participate. So, you know, ask questions, ask questions in the chat, take notes. So, just like you’re in a face-to-face, treat this online learning just like you’re in a face-to-face.
00:07:54.000 –> 00:07:56.000
opportunity, and you will get the most out of it.
00:07:56.000 –> 00:08:14.000
Um, once you get done with the learning opportunity, or the webinar, or the virtual academy, make sure you develop some action steps. So, I would always, anytime I would go into an in-person event or into a virtual online, I would write down at least one thing that I wanted to get… learn out of the session.
00:08:14.000 –> 00:08:24.000
I would say, what’s your why? So, why are you coming to this? Are you coming to it to, you know, pass 30 minutes by, or are you coming to get something out of it? And whatever that is, write it down.
00:08:24.000 –> 00:08:31.000
And then develop some follow-up action steps. What are you going to do as a result of that learning?
00:08:31.000 –> 00:08:44.000
Um, also, online… online learning gives you the opportunity to expand your network, so you’ll see anytime I’ll do an online training or webinar, I always just tell people, just introduce yourself in the chat box. Tell us what organization you’re from.
00:08:44.000 –> 00:08:57.000
Um, sometimes people will… you’ll see your LinkedIn connections that, you know, it may be… you’ll see somebody who’s in the same state or region as you, so you can really expand your network, uh, by participating and being a part of online.
00:08:57.000 –> 00:09:04.000
training opportunities. Um, if you have a question, follow up with the presenter. If the presenter leaves their information.
00:09:04.000 –> 00:09:17.000
Um, and usually with novel presenters, they are very gracious. They leave their contact information, so if you’re going back and reviewing any information, make sure that you also follow up with the presenter if you have additional questions.
00:09:17.000 –> 00:09:27.000
Um, after we record all of our content. And so, you can go back and review the content. So, if you’re not able to attend live sessions, you are able to go back and review those.
00:09:27.000 –> 00:09:39.000
Um, Nautil does have a YouTube channel. All of our, uh, free trainings have been recorded over the last 3 years, so there is, uh, so much learning, so many learning.
00:09:39.000 –> 00:09:47.000
and training opportunities there on I’m not a YouTube channel, as well as our website.
00:09:47.000 –> 00:09:56.000
All right, so I’m gonna start with just what some of the learning we have coming up with our 30 minutes of excellent session. So, 30 Minutes of Excellence.
00:09:56.000 –> 00:10:02.000
Um, that is where we come together, uh, on the fourth Wednesday of every month.
00:10:02.000 –> 00:10:09.000
usually the fourth Wednesday. Sometimes it’s, um… maybe a little different, depending on other things that’s going on, but it’s normally the fourth Wednesday of every month.
00:10:09.000 –> 00:10:17.000
Um, these trainings are free, and they are open to the public, so you can… you don’t have to be a member of Donald.
00:10:17.000 –> 00:10:24.000
But they are open to anybody, and they’re free, and really what we try to do is showcase resources.
00:10:24.000 –> 00:10:38.000
showcase best practices and also innovative programs. So, uh, it’s 30 minutes, um, you can register on our website, just go to the Nautic website under events and training, and Digital Learning Center. You can find the ones that you are.
00:10:38.000 –> 00:10:57.000
interested in and register for those. Um, again, sometimes people are not able to attend the live version, and if you’re not able to attend the live session, you can still register, and I send out all the recordings just a couple of days after. Again, it’s also available on our YouTube channel, but if you register, you’ll also get that in your email.
00:10:57.000 –> 00:10:59.000
So that you don’t have to go search for it.
00:10:59.000 –> 00:11:08.000
Um, but coming up in January, we’re actually gonna have, uh, someone from Indeed, and they have a job search academy, so this is a free resource.
00:11:08.000 –> 00:11:14.000
Um, and it’s a good way to partner with Indeed to look at jobs and resources that are available to you locally.
00:11:14.000 –> 00:11:30.000
So that’s coming up in January. In February, we have a training around board engagement and board development, um, and this does not just include workforce boards, but really any kind of board that is trying to grow and develop. So that’s going to be in February.
00:11:30.000 –> 00:11:39.000
Um, in March, we have a… we have a programming or a topic around, um, from Employee Prince George’s around youth and youth development.
00:11:39.000 –> 00:11:54.000
And then in April, this is where I get to introduce my friend Doug, who is on here today, and Doug is going to be coming in for Second Chance Month, and Doug is going to, from the state of Oregon, is going to be talking about some promising practices that they are doing around justice-involved individuals.
00:11:54.000 –> 00:11:58.000
Um, and best practices on how to serve those individuals and employers.
00:11:58.000 –> 00:12:09.000
Um, so those are our 30 minutes of excellence sessions that are coming up over the next… over the next 4 months. So, again, you can go to our website to register for those.
00:12:09.000 –> 00:12:14.000
Um, and as you heard me say, uh, our top learning goal for this year was.
00:12:14.000 –> 00:12:23.000
AI and utilizing AI. So we will be having a virtual academy that is, um, gonna be February 24th through the 26th.
00:12:23.000 –> 00:12:36.000
Registration is open for that now. This is a paid, um, academy, so you don’t have to be a member, but if you are a member, it’s $395. If you’re not a member, it’s $495.
00:12:36.000 –> 00:12:46.000
Um, or that maybe $375 and $475, I’m sorry. Um, but this is going to happen the last Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday in February, February 24th through the 26th.
00:12:46.000 –> 00:13:16.000
This is a, um, 3-day academy. And so, from the 3-day academy, I’m gonna put the schedule in here as well. I’m gonna drop the schedule in the chat box, because the topics are very, um… above basics. So, it’s not how to use ChatGPT and how to use, um, different types of AI, but it’s really, you know, how do we incorporate those into our organization? How do we come up with policies around AI? How do we… they’re even going to teach you how to create a chat box, um, a chat box.
00:13:18.000 –> 00:13:40.000
So that’s all gonna be a part of this AI Virtual Academy. Again, it’s going to be 3 days, 8 hours, and you will have access to this training for 30 days after it concludes. So you’ll go through the training, and then you can actually go back through it, um, you know, to get the information or look at the information again for 30 days. So, you’ll have access to that for 30 days.
00:13:40.000 –> 00:13:45.000
But again, I did just drop the schedule, um, in the chat.
00:13:45.000 –> 00:13:52.000
And it’s also on our website, so you can go under events, and you can read more about the AI Virtual Academy.
00:13:52.000 –> 00:14:03.000
Um, we’ll be doing a second virtual academy in July. We don’t have those dates yet, but just keep that in mind. This virtual academy is going to be on Workforce Fundamentals, and this is really going to.
00:14:03.000 –> 00:14:25.000
Be around the basics of workforce development. So this is going to be really good for people who are new to the field, new to the industry. Uh, we know that we have a lot of turnover, um, in workforce development, so we’re always, you know, constantly, uh, getting new people into the field, into the industry, and this virtual academy is really going to cater toward those workforce.
00:14:25.000 –> 00:14:33.000
those workforce basic principles. So maybe, like, the basics of outreach or advocacy, um, the workforce ecosystem.
00:14:33.000 –> 00:14:39.000
So, it’ll be in the same format as all of our virtual academies. It’ll be 3 days and 8 hours.
00:14:39.000 –> 00:14:44.000
But you can stay in contact with us, stay connected with us, and you’ll be able to see those exact dates.
00:14:44.000 –> 00:14:51.000
And then also what that exact schedule looks like. So that is coming up as well.
00:14:51.000 –> 00:15:01.000
Um, over the summer, we do what we call a summer learning series. We do different ones each year, and for this year, our Summer Learning Series is going to be on career coaching.
00:15:01.000 –> 00:15:06.000
Um, so for our Summer Learning Series, it’s split up into four 90-minute sessions.
00:15:06.000 –> 00:15:19.000
And we will have one in June, July, August, and September. You can take one, you can take two, you can take three, or you can take all four. It’s not a requirement that you take all four. You can take which ones most speak to the skills that you need.
00:15:19.000 –> 00:15:39.000
Um, and those are going to be offered, again, June through September. You’ll be able to see more about that in the upcoming months as well. But, um, if you are a career coach, or if you supervise a career coach, or if you know a career coach who may be interested, make sure you share this information with them. That will be coming out in, uh.
00:15:39.000 –> 00:15:44.000
we’ll have the information out for that in early May.
00:15:44.000 –> 00:16:02.000
Um, also for our members, we do exclusive, um, an exclusive event for our Nautic members called Network with Nautil, and this is really peer-to-peer learning, so we don’t want all of our trainees to be, um, a presenter up and talking while everybody else is, you know, taking notes or kind of listening.
00:16:02.000 –> 00:16:13.000
Our network with nod of event is more peer-to-peer, so we bring, um, if you’re not a member, we have our next one scheduled for February, and we bring people in.
00:16:13.000 –> 00:16:17.000
We have different topics that we discuss in breakout rooms.
00:16:17.000 –> 00:16:27.000
So, we may, um, have different. topics on, you know, for instance, how are you using AI, or what does your advocacy strategy look like in your organization?
00:16:27.000 –> 00:16:53.000
We take that, uh, we take those discussion questions, put you in breakout rooms, and really let you have that peer-to-peer learning, ask questions, see what your peers… and other non-m members from around the country are doing. So, this is a network with Nautif event. Again, if you are… you do have to be a member, um, but if you are a member, our registration is open for that first one that is going to be held in February.
00:16:53.000 –> 00:16:57.000
All right, and then we also do not a day of learning.
00:16:57.000 –> 00:17:05.000
Um, and so our Not of Day of Learning event is a one-day, um, event, and it’s 3 hours.
00:17:05.000 –> 00:17:11.000
And you go through, um, 4 different topics under one specific theme. So, for instance, in March.
00:17:11.000 –> 00:17:15.000
Um, our Not of Day of Learning is all… is gonna be all about apprenticeships.
00:17:15.000 –> 00:17:21.000
So we’ll have that schedule coming out in March, and then in September, during Workforce Development Month.
00:17:21.000 –> 00:17:25.000
I’m not up there learning is going to be on the resilient.
00:17:25.000 –> 00:17:32.000
workforce professional. Um, and so we’ll… we’ll really talk about those soft skills and those essential skills.
00:17:32.000 –> 00:17:37.000
Um, that we need as workforce development professionals, because it’s a very specific set of skills.
00:17:37.000 –> 00:17:45.000
To be a workforce development professional, whether that’s time, um, time management, whether that’s learning how to work in teams, um.
00:17:45.000 –> 00:17:49.000
what that really looks like within the field of workforce development.
00:17:49.000 –> 00:18:00.000
So that will be coming out in September. All right, so I’m gonna take a quick pause and see if anybody has any questions. You can definitely type those into the chat box.
00:18:00.000 –> 00:18:06.000
I know I’ve said a lot in these first 20 minutes.
00:18:06.000 –> 00:18:10.000
Any questions or comments? You can take yourself off of mute, too.
00:18:10.000 –> 00:18:13.000
I have a question.
00:18:13.000 –> 00:18:14.000
Okay.
00:18:14.000 –> 00:18:21.000
Good afternoon, everyone. Um, so I’m looking at… I’m loving that everyone kind of introduced themselves and dropped their name and where they’re from in the chat.
00:18:21.000 –> 00:18:26.000
And I’m recognizing that, um, I believe I’m the only higher ed professional,
00:18:26.000 –> 00:18:33.000
Because I am looking to pivot, I’ve been working in admissions for a while, and realizing that I want to pivot into workforce development.
00:18:33.000 –> 00:18:38.000
Out of all of the events that you, um…
00:18:38.000 –> 00:18:40.000
that you listed here.
00:18:40.000 –> 00:18:52.000
Am I in over my head to even attempt any of these, or to join, or what would you suggest as someone that’s looking to pivot into workforce development?
00:18:52.000 –> 00:19:02.000
Yeah, so you’re definitely not in over here, because, um, all of the things that we talked about, I feel like, in workforce development, and also, let me say that, um.
00:19:02.000 –> 00:19:08.000
as members of NATO, we have a very, very, uh, diverse membership.
00:19:08.000 –> 00:19:14.000
So we have people from workforce boards, we have people from community colleges, we have people from higher ed, we have people from nonprofits.
00:19:14.000 –> 00:19:36.000
Um, but the one thing that we know about workforce development is whether you’re working in higher ed or whether you’re working at a workforce board, or whether you’re working at the Boys and Girls Club, you’re gonna come in and counter with people working with target populations, right? So whether that’s people with, uh, disabilities, and maybe people with justice involved, and maybe people in rural communities.
00:19:36.000 –> 00:19:45.000
So, we all work with those same populations. Um, and career coaches, the things that you need, like, as far as writing a resume, how do you interview?
00:19:45.000 –> 00:20:05.000
So those career coaching principles, even, uh, work, uh… Resilient workforce professionals, it’s really for anybody who works in workforce. So, it’s not necessarily about the organization or organization type, because workforce development is very, um, specific, or it’s not very specific to an organization. It’s just very general.
00:20:05.000 –> 00:20:10.000
Um, actually, the person who did our career coaching, uh, Virtual Academy last year.
00:20:10.000 –> 00:20:16.000
She was from higher ed, and she ran their, um, student center, not their student center, their career center.
00:20:17.000 –> 00:20:25.000
Um, at a four-year university. Um, at our networking events, and we have… and our in-person conferences and in-person events.
00:20:25.000 –> 00:20:31.000
We have four-year universities, we have community colleges also doing those presentations and workshops.
00:20:31.000 –> 00:20:37.000
Um, so no, you are definitely not in over your head. You have met your family. This is your community.
00:20:37.000 –> 00:20:43.000
Because we are all things workforce development, so even though you may not see it in the chat right now.
00:20:43.000 –> 00:20:47.000
Uh, we definitely have a lot of members within Nautil who are a part of, um, higher ed.
00:20:47.000 –> 00:20:58.000
Thank you, and I see a lot of stuff in the chat, and I’m gonna connect with you guys on LinkedIn, because I just found this, and, like, this is my first…
00:20:58.000 –> 00:21:04.000
connection with this. I’m like, how is this gonna work out? So, I’m excited. Thank you so much.
00:21:04.000 –> 00:21:05.000
Kim, can I mention something, too, if you don’t mind?
00:21:05.000 –> 00:21:08.000
Yeah, great! Awesome. Absolutely, yes.
00:21:08.000 –> 00:21:28.000
I want to share, Trinadia, I used to oversee two different schools, and I oversaw people who did admissions, and admissions is just basically the front end of the house,
00:21:28.000 –> 00:21:29.000
Could…
00:21:29.000 –> 00:21:40.000
The Career Services and Career Coaching is on the back end, so you’re doing all the same stuff in the follow-up, so you have a ton of great transferable skills, so you can be super successful, and this is a great arena where you’re going to meet a lot of great people who are going to help you along the way. My name is Jennifer Gonzalez. I’m the, um, I’m over in New Jersey. I’d be glad to connect
00:21:40.000 –> 00:21:41.000
Oh! You’re close.
00:21:41.000 –> 00:21:44.000
If I can help you out, I’d be glad to do that.
00:21:44.000 –> 00:21:51.000
Absolutely, Jennifer, I’ll take you up on that. Thank you so much.
00:21:51.000 –> 00:21:55.000
Thank you for that question. Thank you for sparking that conversation.
00:21:55.000 –> 00:22:00.000
Um, I do see one question from Hilda. Is there a cost for that summer learning series?
00:22:00.000 –> 00:22:07.000
There is a cost for that, it’s $50. Well, if you’re a member, it’s $50 per session. If you’re a non-member, it’s $75 per session.
00:22:07.000 –> 00:22:17.000
So, because we do pay a trainer for… to come in for the Summer Learning Series, there is a cost for that. And, uh, again, all of this will be up on our website as well.
00:22:17.000 –> 00:22:29.000
All right. So, let me jump into our, um, in-person event. So, um, networking. So, you know, just back to your point, Janadia, uh, networking is very important, right?
00:22:29.000 –> 00:22:38.000
So, just meeting people, that’s one thing. So, I work… I live in Georgia, and I worked in a workforce board for about 15 years. I did a lot of my networking in Georgia.
00:22:38.000 –> 00:22:49.000
Um, a lot of my professional development in, in, uh, within Georgia. But one of the things that I noticed when I joined Nautilus is that, um, a lot of people were going through the same challenges.
00:22:49.000 –> 00:23:08.000
Same opportunities as I have, but sometimes when you look at people from different states who are able to network with people who are in different organizations, and different organization types, different regions, like, you’re really able to bring all of those things together. So that’s what I love about our in-person events, is just.
00:23:08.000 –> 00:23:24.000
that opportunity to meet not necessarily people who are in your same organization type, but people who, um, are doing the same things that you do. So, whether it’s in a non-profit, whether it’s at a workforce board, a university, or a community college, you get to network with all of those people.
00:23:24.000 –> 00:23:30.000
Um, and we do that in 3 different opportunities. The first one is our annual conference.
00:23:30.000 –> 00:23:40.000
So our annual conference registration is actually open now, and if you’re interested in doing a workshop, uh, the workshop, the RFTs for the workshop are open as well.
00:23:40.000 –> 00:23:48.000
So, you can submit a proposal to do a workshop, but that’s going to be happening in Phoenix, and that’s going to be May 18th through the 20th.
00:23:48.000 –> 00:24:13.000
Um, we do a business services academy. This is going to be more for our professionals who work with businesses, right? So, if you… if you face more with, um, business and business and industry, or work in different sectors with businesses, this is going to be for you. Um, this is all of our workshops there are going to be specifically targeted toward business services, and that’s going to be in, um, say, Las Vegas.
00:24:13.000 –> 00:24:23.000
August 17th through the 19th. And then we also do our youth symposium. So, our youth symposium is for that group of workforce professionals.
00:24:23.000 –> 00:24:41.000
who work with that 16- to 24-year-old population in whatever capacity that may be. Um, so the youth symposium, I get this question a lot, it’s not for the actual youth, but it’s for those professionals who work with youth. So, all of our programming is going to be around, um, working with that youth population.
00:24:41.000 –> 00:24:46.000
That’s gonna be coming up in November, and that is gonna be held in San Antonio.
00:24:46.000 –> 00:24:57.000
So again, those are just some of our in-person events that are coming up, so make sure you keep those on your radar. Like I said, right now, um, we do have registration open for our annual conference.
00:24:57.000 –> 00:25:08.000
And also a workshop proposal. So those workshop proposals, we’ll be taking those until February the 1st. If you are interested, we would love to have you be a part.
00:25:08.000 –> 00:25:17.000
Um, and so, listed here, and I’ll send you all this, and it’s on the website, and I’ll send you the PowerPoint as well, these are going to be the learning tracks for our annual conference.
00:25:17.000 –> 00:25:27.000
Um, so we’re gonna have, uh, information about boarding day, or tracks about board engagement and development, so how to develop those workforce boards, or those non-profit boards.
00:25:27.000 –> 00:25:32.000
Um, and really letting them be your champions and your advocacy as we’re talking about workforce development.
00:25:32.000 –> 00:25:43.000
Um, how do we work with businesses? How do we work with, uh, those business and industries within your organization? Advocacy and outreach. How do we really sell our program?
00:25:43.000 –> 00:25:59.000
Um, how do we use data-driven decision-making? So we’re not just making decisions based on what we’ve done in the past, but we’re actually making decisions on current labor market data. So, how do we really take that labor… that labor market information?
00:25:59.000 –> 00:26:03.000
Um, utilizing AI and technology, serving target populations is one.
00:26:03.000 –> 00:26:15.000
Um, operational excellence and compliance, so this is everything from, um, writing grants to performance measurements and all the things that are in.
00:26:15.000 –> 00:26:36.000
what we would call operations. And then, innovative workforce programs. So, if you have a workforce program that you want to share, um, maybe some learning, what you learned, what were the lessons learned, how was it innovative, what did those partnerships look like, uh, that will fall under that track at our annual conference. So we’re very excited about, um, our annual conference coming up.
00:26:36.000 –> 00:26:55.000
One of the great things about our conferences, or our annual conference in Youth Symposium, is that you can choose to attend it virtually, so if you, um… don’t have it in your budget to where you can travel, you can attend it virtually, um, but if you… if you do come in person, you also have access.
00:26:55.000 –> 00:27:08.000
to all of the training, we record all of our sessions, we pre-record all of our sessions. So, for all 110 sessions that we have, you will have that available for 60 days after the conference ends.
00:27:08.000 –> 00:27:17.000
So, you will have access to every single workshop. We know when you come in person, you can only pick one, but you’ll have access to that virtual component as well.
00:27:17.000 –> 00:27:32.000
All right, and we have a couple of, um… cohorts going on right now that we’re very excited about. So, we have our new professionals cohort. Uh, that cohort goes from January, so this group just started. They’ll go from January until December.
00:27:32.000 –> 00:27:42.000
Um, they will meet monthly, so they’ll have different professional development, um, opportunities. There will be, um, mentor, they’ll have… be connected with a mentor within workforce development.
00:27:42.000 –> 00:27:49.000
We’ll also have virtual networking events and a capstone project. This is our cohort here. You can read more about them on our website.
00:27:49.000 –> 00:27:54.000
But, um, our application period is open every year during the month of July.
00:27:54.000 –> 00:28:02.000
And then, also, we have on the other end of the spectrum, we have a leadership academy, so this is for our directors, our executive directors.
00:28:02.000 –> 00:28:09.000
Um, those people in workforce development who lead organizations and who are, um.
00:28:09.000 –> 00:28:19.000
looking to make… take that vision and turn that vision into action. So, we have a leadership academy. We actually will be graduating our first cohort in our conference in May.
00:28:19.000 –> 00:28:28.000
And then our second cohort will be starting. Um, so we’ve done this in partnership with the University of Georgia Fanning Institute for Leadership Development.
00:28:28.000 –> 00:28:33.000
And our application period for that is every, um, every October.
00:28:33.000 –> 00:28:47.000
So you can definitely go to our website, read more about our Leadership Academy, and you’ll get to see, um, just the wide variety and the diverse group of people that we have in that Leadership Academy. So, we do have some people from higher ed, we do have people from community colleges.
00:28:47.000 –> 00:28:55.000
We, um, have a representative from one of our states, from the state of Maine, is a part of our Leadership Academy this year as well.
00:28:55.000 –> 00:29:04.000
So, get to read a lot about our Leadership Academy participants, and then if you’re interested, it’ll talk a little bit about what that application looks like.
00:29:04.000 –> 00:29:12.000
Um, so the Suicide Workforce Development Professional, I won’t go into much detail about this, you can definitely find this information on our website.
00:29:12.000 –> 00:29:21.000
Um, but we, um, validate the skills of a workforce development professional based on five competencies.
00:29:21.000 –> 00:29:27.000
The five competencies are listed here, so this is for anybody who is in workforce development.
00:29:27.000 –> 00:29:38.000
So, everybody needs that customer service methodology. Everybody needs to know, um, learn the diversity and workforce development, the different target populations. Everybody needs to know how to use labor market information.
00:29:38.000 –> 00:29:48.000
principles of communication, and then also workforce development. structures, policies, and programs. So, those are the five competencies of the CWDP.
00:29:48.000 –> 00:29:57.000
Um, again, Nautilus does not do the training, but we do have 4 different training providers. This information is on our website. They do training, um, virtually.
00:29:57.000 –> 00:30:13.000
Um, and you can look at what their curriculum looks like. Uh, you can also do a 100-question exam that is over that… those five competencies, and also, we just added, if you have completed the U.S. Department of Labor’s registered apprenticeship Program.
00:30:13.000 –> 00:30:20.000
Um, in workforce development, that will qualify you for that CWDP credential as well.
00:30:20.000 –> 00:30:28.000
Um, and as a part of CWDP, because that was our second learning goal for so many people who are interested in getting this credential, we will be having office hours.
00:30:28.000 –> 00:30:39.000
Um, so we have committed to do that at least once a quarter during 2026. We’ll have office hours where we’ll have not-up staff just in a breakout room or, uh, in a Zoom.
00:30:39.000 –> 00:30:55.000
kind of a Zoom, um… thing like this one, but we also have breakout rooms, and you can just drop in and ask a question. So, you know, if you view the video, or if you, you know, been on the website, and you just have a couple of questions, you can drop in during those office hours and get your questions answered.
00:30:55.000 –> 00:31:00.000
So make sure you stay connected with us to learn more about those office hours upcoming.
00:31:00.000 –> 00:31:19.000
Okay, so also, as I close out here, I know we’re a couple minutes over, but, um… I just want to give you some other resources. So, of course, our NOTA website, you all, our Nautilit website is amazing. Um, our Director of Communications, Amanda, did an amazing job with this, but it’s so many resources, so many different things on our website.
00:31:19.000 –> 00:31:26.000
We just revamped our website in September, this past September, so go and check it out if you have not seen it recently.
00:31:26.000 –> 00:31:43.000
Um, also, workforce GPS, if you, um, have not used Workforce GPS, there is a lot of training, a lot of resources on Workforce GPS platform as well. Like I said, Nautup has a YouTube channel that we archive all of our, um.
00:31:43.000 –> 00:31:49.000
free trainings on, so you can go back, you know, for 3 or 4 years and look at all the different trainings we’ve done.
00:31:49.000 –> 00:31:57.000
Um, LinkedIn Learning is a great place for learning as well. We have a podcast, it’s called Workforce on the Mic.
00:31:57.000 –> 00:32:07.000
Um, so if you haven’t listened to any of those, or if you’ve listened to one here or there, they are all really, really good. Um, our Director of Membership, Alexis Francis, the host of that.
00:32:07.000 –> 00:32:15.000
And then also, we have another blog series. So, we have so many opportunities for you to connect, for you to learn.
00:32:15.000 –> 00:32:28.000
Um, and, you know, like I said, my word for this year is more, so I… my goal is to continue to push that finish line for you, make sure that you’re never at the place where you feel like there’s nothing else to learn, because there is always more.
00:32:28.000 –> 00:32:45.000
So, we look forward to you all getting connected with NADAP, staying connected with NADU. Um, you can reach out to me at any time. I am going to draw my email in the chat. It’s super easy, but I’m gonna drop it in the chat as well. But it’s Kim at notup.org.
00:32:45.000 –> 00:32:52.000
Um, I didn’t even use my whole name. I didn’t even say Kimberly. I made it super easy for everybody, so it’s kimando.org. If you have any questions.
00:32:52.000 –> 00:33:00.000
Feel free to reach out to me. Um, if you have any questions now, you can definitely type it into the chat or take yourself off of mute.
00:33:00.000 –> 00:33:02.000
If you have any additional questions. Hey, Jeremy!
00:33:02.000 –> 00:33:11.000
Hi, Dan, this is Jeremy Irvin. I was, uh, trying to see if today’s session counts as toward the 60 hours needed.
00:33:11.000 –> 00:33:14.000
For, uh, recertify. Mine is coming…
00:33:14.000 –> 00:33:26.000
Um, this… Um, this session does not, Jeremy, just because it doesn’t have a competency tied to it, it just talks about all of the different professional development.
00:33:26.000 –> 00:33:27.000
Okay.
00:33:27.000 –> 00:33:33.000
Um, so it… in order for it to count toward recertification, it would need to have one… a competency in one of those five competency areas.
00:33:33.000 –> 00:33:35.000
Okay, and that’s good to know.
00:33:35.000 –> 00:33:41.000
All right. But we do have a 30 Minutes of Excellence session that’s coming up next week.
00:33:41.000 –> 00:33:46.000
Okay.
00:33:46.000 –> 00:33:47.000
Okay.
00:33:47.000 –> 00:33:57.000
With Indeed.com, or Indeed Job Search Academy, which will count, so make sure you all sign up for that. It’s gonna be good. And again, if you can’t attend, you can register, and I will email you the recording once it’s over. Same thing with this, everybody will get this recording as well.
00:33:57.000 –> 00:34:09.000
Um, could Carlissa said, when can we register for the March apprenticeship event? That will probably open, I would say, probably in mid-February, um, Kirtisa.
00:34:09.000 –> 00:34:16.000
So, yeah, I’d say just stay connected with us. If you don’t follow us on LinkedIn, we’re also on all the other social media platforms.
00:34:16.000 –> 00:34:24.000
But LinkedIn, um… Well, all of the social media platforms. I just say that because I’m a LinkedIn. Connect with me as well.
00:34:24.000 –> 00:34:29.000
But, uh, we will… you will definitely see when that registration opens for that March apprenticeship.
00:34:29.000 –> 00:34:30.000
Thank you.
00:34:30.000 –> 00:34:41.000
Uh, event. It is gonna be… that’s gonna be a free event, because we do have a grant that is going to be sponsoring that, so that will be a free event for all members and non-members.
00:34:41.000 –> 00:34:47.000
But you’ll see all that information, so stay connected to our website and to our social media.
00:34:47.000 –> 00:34:54.000
All right, so it does not look like I have any other questions, so I do appreciate you all being here with me today.
00:34:54.000 –> 00:34:55.000
Um, if you have any questions, reach out to me. You have my email address, and I look forward to seeing you all either virtually or in person very soon.
00:34:55.000 –> 00:35:03.000
Thank you.
00:35:03.000 –> 00:35:08.000
All right, enjoy your day. You’re welcome.
