Thurman Roberts is an enrolled Washoe Tribal member on his mother’s side and grew up on the Hung A Lel Ti (Southern Band of the Washoe People) Reservation, and ascends from his father’s side from Paiute in Yerington, NV, on his father’s side. Mr. Roberts has been actively involved in workforce development and community support for the past decade. In his role at Nevadaworks, he has been instrumental in building partnerships with 22 Northern Nevada tribes and five tribal agencies/partners. Drawing upon a strong understanding of tribal programs, culture, life, and social and economic standings, Thurman seeks to bridge the gap between tribes and the Northern Nevada workforce development system, state workforce development programs, and agencies while providing tribal considerations for Nevada companies to establish best practices for tribal engagement. His role involves addressing local talent needs, increasing the supply of trained workers, and helping workers secure jobs in key industries essential to U.S. supply chains and regional development.
