Marcia Colson

Marcia Colson is a seasoned workforce development leader with extensive experience expanding opportunity, strengthening talent pipelines, and advancing economic mobility across the Charlotte region. She holds degrees from UNC Charlotte and Winthrop University and is currently pursuing a Doctor of Business Administration.

For nearly 18 years at Central Piedmont Community College, Marcia has driven student and workforce success through roles spanning student services, instruction, and academic leadership. She currently leads Workforce & Business Development, where she oversees career services, corporate engagement, workplace learning, employer relations, apprenticeship, and support for business, technology, and public service programs. Her work centers on building responsive, employer aligned pathways that meet regional labor market needs and support learner advancement.

Marcia’s impact extends beyond the college through her contributions to Achieving the Dream, Guided Pathways implementation, and service on regional Workforce, Transportation, and Small Business Committees. She also brings a strategic, audience focused perspective to her work through her background in marketing and her involvement with the American Marketing Association.
