Joel Martin

Joel Martin is the Manager of Industry Engagement for Workforce Development at the Los Angeles County Economic Development Corporation (LAEDC), where he leads employer partnerships, workforce strategies, and stakeholder engagement efforts that connect communities to economic opportunity.

In his current role, Joel plays a key role in LAEDC’s 2025 wildfire workforce recovery efforts, coordinating with employers, America’s Job Centers of California (AJCCs), the Los Angeles County Department of Economic Opportunity, community-based organizations, and case managers to connect displaced and impacted workers to employment opportunities through targeted outreach and priority employer networks.

Prior to his current role, Joel served as LAEDC’s Community Broadband Manager, supporting program administration, operations, and strategic alignment for the Los Angeles Digital Equity Action League (LA DEAL) regional broadband consortium and related digital equity initiatives. He also brings experience leading policy, community engagement, and educational programs focused on economic equity, youth and family services, and regional collaboration.

Joel has a strong track record in advancing equity-focused initiatives, managing cross-sector partnerships, and providing administrative leadership to support effective program implementation. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from California State University, Northridge.
