Preparing for the CWDP

To be awarded the CWDP credential, candidates are required to successfully complete and submit a series of forms that demonstrate the applicant meets all of the following requirements:

  1. A combination of education and experience;
  2. Recent work experience;
  3. Competency in nine areas;
  4. References;
  5. Professional affiliation with a workforce association; and
  6. Adherence to a code of professional ethics.

Application forms help guide the candidate in identifying and describing specific education and work experiences, continuing education, and references from supervisors and peers.

Before beginning the application process, you should determine if you meet the combination of Education and Work Requirements. 

 Graduate Degree  12 months full time experience
 Bachelor's Degree  24 months full time experience
 Associate's Degree  48 months full time experience
 High School or GED  72 months full time experience

Documentation of attained educational level must be submitted before the application will be considered complete. Copies of transcripts, diplomas or letters from school officials (not instructors) on school letterhead are acceptable.

Individuals who participate in this Webinar have a higher success rate with their application than those who do not. A recorded version of the webinar is available below.



Step 2.  Complete a CWDP Self-Assessment. The self-assessment is a tool for you to determine how your experience aligns with the CWDP credential criteria.
