Sarah’s story began as a high school student at Barnstable High School, where she first joined the ArtWorks Program, a unique initiative that connects young aspiring artists with local artist mentors. Through the program, Sarah gained invaluable exposure to the creative economy, learning from experienced artists and honing her skills in visual arts. This opportunity sparked a passion for her craft, leading to her current path as an artist and advocate for the arts.

Upon her graduation, Sarah was honored with the CIWB’s Annual Youth Council Scholarship Award, which provided financial assistance as she began her studies at Cape Cod Community College (CCCC). Today, Sarah is in her third year at CCCC, majoring in Visual Arts, and she continues to be actively involved with the ArtWorks Program as a mentor.

Sarah’s growth as an artist has been influenced by her mentorship under Sarah Holl, a well-known mixed media painter and sculptor. Through her internship and collaboration with Holl, Sarah has expanded her artistic range, exploring vibrant oil paintings and expressive pastel drawings that capture the beauty of nature and the human form. Her work reflects a deep passion for creativity and self-expression.

Her involvement in the local arts community extends beyond the classroom. Sarah serves as a curator at Bread and Roses Cafe, bringing her unique artistic vision to life through community exhibitions. These experiences have enriched the cultural landscape of Cape Cod, allowing Sarah to share her love for the arts with the broader community.

In 2024, Sarah’s contributions were recognized when she was awarded the CIWB’s prestigious Rising Star Award at their Annual Meeting. This recognition celebrated her talent, commitment, and exceptional support of the ArtWorks Program, as well as her mentorship of the next generation of young artists.

She is steadfast in her communication and engagement with CIWB, always eager to give back to the community that helped shape her. Through her mentorship, Sarah encourages youth to pursue their artistic passions, equipping them with the skills and confidence to navigate a future in the creative economy.
