The National Association of Workforce Development Professionals (NAWDP) is proud to kick off Workforce Development Month, marking 20 years of recognizing and celebrating the workforce development profession and its critical role in strengthening our nation’s economy.

Created by NAWDP in 2005, Workforce Development Month highlights the impact of workforce professionals who connect businesses with jobseekers, and link communities with the education, training, and support resources that drive economic growth.

In the video below, NAWDP Board Chair Dana Keller reminds us of the powerful role workforce professionals play in shaping strong communities, resilient economies, and brighter futures.

Throughout September, NAWDP encourages workforce professionals across the country to engage their communities in highlighting the value of workforce development programs. With just a few simple activities, professionals can:

  • Showcase success stories to elected officials and community leaders.
  • Collaborate with education and business partners to demonstrate impact.
  • Recognize the dedicated workforce professionals who make these successes possible.

To support these efforts, NAWDP offers a Workforce Development Month Toolkit and an Advocacy Toolkit with resources for raising awareness, celebrating staff, and amplifying the contributions of workforce programs nationwide.

“Workforce Development Month is more than a celebration—it is a call to action,” said Melissa Robbins, NAWDP CEO. “Together, we shine a spotlight on the professionals and programs that fuel opportunity, growth, and innovation in every community.”
