NAWDP’s New Professionals Cohort in Workforce Development is established to support, empower, and engage individuals who are at the beginning of their journey in the workforce development field. Whether you’re transitioning into the profession or just getting started, this cohort offers an inclusive and encouraging space to grow your knowledge, build confidence, make connections, and find your path in this impactful field.
Through peer connection, mentorship opportunities, and targeted professional development, this 12-month cohort creates a vibrant community where members can share best practices, overcome challenges, explore innovations, and build lasting professional relationships. We invite new professionals to join us in shaping the future of workforce development – together.
What’s Included?
- Monthly Engagements: Professional development, virtual networking events, guest speakers, mentorship opportunities, and skill-building sessions.
- Capstone Project: Design a mini workforce initiative with real-world impact.
- Recognition: Upon completion, receive a Certificate of Completion, access to an extended peer network, an assigned industry mentor, and a resource toolkit.

Cost
The fee for the New Professionals Cohort in Workforce Development is $250. NAWDP membership is required. You may join prior to submitting your application.

Become a Mentor to a New Professional
NAWDP members have a unique opportunity to give back by serving as a mentor for the New Professionals Cohort in Workforce Development. Mentors play a vital role in helping early-career workforce professionals build confidence, set goals, and expand their networks. To participate, mentors must commit to four (4) 30-minute sessions with their mentee over the course of the year, attend a brief 30-minute mentor training, and provide guidance, feedback, and encouragement throughout the cohort experience.
