What Qualifies as Professional Development Training Hours?
Certified professionals are required to earn professional development training hours to maintain their CWDP. Acceptable training opportunities (must be specific to a workforce development competency to qualify for recertification):
- Training opportunities in your state or local area
- Workforce conference sessions
- Workforce webinars
- Other verifiable training
Attendance at meetings, award events, and staffing of job fairs cannot be counted as professional development training hours for CWDP recertification.

WorkforceGPS provides free access to a wide range of training webinars and on-demand recordings that support the professional growth of workforce development practitioners. These sessions not only deliver practical strategies and expert insights to strengthen the workforce system, but they can also serve as valuable learning hours when applying for recertification. With new and archived content available anytime, WorkforceGPS is a convenient resource to expand your knowledge while working toward maintaining your credentials.
Events and Conferences
Participate in immersive, in-person and virtual experiences like the Annual Conference, Youth Symposium, and in-person and virtual Academies. Each event is packed with professional development training hour-eligible content to advance your learning and leadership.
By attending a NAWDP in-person or virtual event, you will automatically earn 12 professional development training hours for the Annual Conference and Youth Symposium, and 8 professional development training hours for an in-person or virtual academy.
