Chief Financial Officer, Workforce Solutions Borderplex
Bio:
I am a Texas-based workforce development executive with over a decade of experience across finance, operations, IT, and facilities within a local workforce system. I serve as CFO of Workforce Solutions Borderplex, supporting one of the most complex labor markets in the state. My work focuses on employer engagement, system modernization, fiscal stewardship, and expanding access to career pathways for diverse and underserved communities.
What is your vision for the workforce development profession?
My vision is a workforce development system that is responsive to regional economies, aligned with employers, and accountable for outcomes. In Texas, this means flexible strategies that reflect local labor markets, strong partnerships with industry, and a focus on upskilling workers for high-demand careers. The profession must lead with innovation, data, and collaboration to drive economic competitiveness statewide.
Do you have a particular interest area or passion in workforce development?
I am especially passionate about employer-driven career pathways, cross-system alignment, and removing structural barriers for individuals seeking sustainable employment. In Texas, I am focused on strategies that support justice-impacted individuals, youth, and rural and border communities, while ensuring workforce boards have the operational capacity and tools needed to deliver measurable results.
Why do you want to serve on the Board?
I want to serve on the NAWDP Board to bring a Texas perspective grounded in real-world implementation. Our state’s size, diversity, and economic complexity offer valuable lessons for the national workforce system. I am motivated to contribute practical insight, support peer learning, and help ensure NAWDP remains relevant, responsive, and impactful for workforce professionals across Texas and the country.
What do you think is the biggest challege facing the profession today and how can NAWDP address that challenge?
The greatest challenge facing workforce development today is navigating increasing complexity while remaining flexible and innovative. Workforce professionals are balancing compliance, funding constraints, and rapid labor market shifts. NAWDP can help by advocating for flexibility, elevating state and local best practices, investing in professional development, and amplifying the voice of workforce practitioners at the national level.
