Connecticut Candidate Daniel Garewski

Career and Business Administrator, Capital Workforce Partners

Bio:

I am a workforce development leader with over 16 years of experience providing strategic and operational oversight of federal and state grant portfolios, supervising teams, and delivering industry-aligned programming through employer, education, and community partnerships. I currently work as the Career and Business Administrator at Capital Workforce Partners in Hartford, CT and have served three years as the Connecticut representative on the NAWDP Board of Directors.

What is your vision for the workforce development profession?

I envision workforce development as a systems leader, connecting education, employers, policymakers, and communities to advance equity and economic mobility. Our role will shift from job placement to creating access to family-sustaining careers and pathways. We will partner with employers to improve job quality and talent practices, while professionalizing our field through strong competencies, leadership, and readiness for rapid economic change.

Do you have a particular interest area or passion in workforce development?

I am particularly interested in strengthening sustainable industry alignment and partnership as core drivers of effective workforce systems. This includes building durable collaborations that connect education, training, hiring, and advancement with evolving labor market priorities, not just immediate hiring needs.

I am also passionate about advancing equity and accessibility, especially supporting individuals with disabilities through inclusive employer practices and systems design.

Why do you want to serve on the Board?

I want to continue serving on the Board to strengthen the profession’s infrastructure, voice, and leadership pipeline at a time of rapid change. Building on prior service, I am eager to contribute to initiatives that deepen member engagement, support emerging leaders, and advance employer-informed practice. I value professional service and am committed to partnering with fellow leaders to shape a strong, connected, and future-ready workforce development community.

What do you think is the biggest challege facing the profession today and how can NAWDP address that challenge?

The biggest challenge is building a workforce system that is both sustainable and responsive while overcoming fragmentation across the ecosystem. NAWDP plays a critical role in attracting and developing talented professionals, helping the field adapt strategies amid economic and technological disruption, and communicating the profession’s impact to policymakers and partners to strengthen support for workforce solutions.
