The issue of bullying has national significance. It lowers retention, reduces employee productivity, and may create significant problems for those who experience or witness the behavior. It also creates legal issues for our business customers. Although most of the attention has been on school bullying, workplace bullying impacts many workers, including those with disabilities, recent immigrants, and older workers.
Workplace bullying can result in physical or psychological damage and has toxic effects on workplace culture and productivity. Maybe, you have even experienced it yourself. Workforce Development Professionals can play a vital role in helping to address workplace bullying with job seekers, as well as with the employer. The targets of the bullying need to know that it's about control and not their job performance or self worth. This session will provide an overview of bullying behavior and how it translates into the workplace.
Specifically, participants will:
-
Learn to recognize the signs of workplace bullying
-
Recognize who is most vulnerable to bullying
-
Understand the difference between bullying and harassment
-
Receive resources and strategies to assist clients in confronting this behavior
Please note: A cancellation fee of $15 will be applied if requested prior to February 13, 2012.
