David Straka, CWDP
David Straka entered the Workforce Development career in January of 1994 as
an Employment Counselor for the St. Joseph, Missouri, Employment Security program.Â
Later he was promoted to Employment Service Supervisor II position. Â In this
position, he was involved in the planning, implementation and management of
3 One-Stop Career Centers under the Workforce Investment Act. He was responsible
for the collaboration and activities for a 21 county area in Northwest Missouri.Â
Prior to his move to Florida he was an acting Employment Service Manager and
a One-Stop Manager.
In April 2000, David had the opportunity to relocate to Central Florida and
assist in the planning, implementation and management of 3 One-Stop Career
Centers in DeLand, Daytona and Flagler Beach Florida. David managed the DeLand
and Daytona Beach One-Stops during his 5 years in Florida.
After a change in contractors in Florida, David spent time writing articles
for the NAWDP Advantage and doing his job search. He then transferred
to Michigan where he is currently a Case Manager for the Ferndale Career Center.
David is an accomplished trainer, writer and manager in the Workforce Development
System. He is currently the Region 5 Director on the NAWDP board representing
Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio and Wisconsin.
