Improve Your Ability to Serve Youth
In collaboration with the National Collaborative on Workforce & Disability for Youth, NAWDP is pleased to continue our efforts to improve the skills and abilities of our professionals by offering four trainings directed towards youth practitioners in September.
Trainings will be held 8:30am - 4:30pm at the Germantown Innovation Center, which is located at 20271 Goldenrod Lane, Germantown, MD 20876. Participants will receive comprehensive materials and will walk away from the training energized and prepared to immediately put new practices into place!

Knowledge of the Field: Foundations of Workforce Development, Youth Development & the Role of Youth Service Professionals
Familiarize yourself with the foundations of workforce development and youth development, as well as the roles and ethical aspects for youth service professionals and organizations. Learn about the rights of young people and the laws that are meant to insure those rights. Cost: $75

Assessment & Individualized Planning: Charting a Course with Youth
Discover the purpose, types, and selection of assessment tools, person-centered planning, and engaging youth in goal-setting. This workshop addresses the knowledge, skills, and abilities youth service professionals need to better connect all youth, including youth with disabilities, to workforce, educational, and independent living opportunities. Career Exploration & Workforce Preparation: Youth Opening the Door to the World of Work
This training addresses competencies that focus simultaneously on building youths’ basic work readiness and job search skills; providing youth with accurate and timely information about jobs and the job market; and engaging employers to support youth as they move forward in their career development. Cost: $75

Community Resources: Weaving a Web for Youth
Learn how to map community resources, build and manage community partnerships, and identify individualized and disability-specific resources. Attendees also will learn how to effectively market their programs. Cost: $75
